Another Year Begins

Miranda and Ryan started another year of school on Monday. Ryan is still at Bob Hope Primary School and in second grade, while Miranda has graduated to Amelia Earhart Intermediate School and in fourth grade. Am I really old enough to have a fourth grader who is no longer in elementary school? Where does the time go? Thankfully, the first day of school went off without a hitch and both kids came home happy with their first day of school events.

Miranda was so wound up that morning, waking up before 6am. Duane made her run laps around the housing complex to release some of her energy.
Ryan waits patiently for the bus with his friend Mikael. I think this one is Mikael since he is a twin, I can never remember which one is which.

Poor Olivia was convinced she was getting on the bus and going to school with Miranda and Ryan. As the bus pulled up she turns to me and says, "Bye, Mommy, I love you and I'll miss you!" She was broken hearted when she found out that she couldn't go to school with her siblings. We ended up singing the ABC song over and over again that day to make her feel like she was at school. Duane says I need to put her into preschool, but I am resistant.
After putting the kids on the bus, we drove up to the school so that we could drop off the bag full of school supplies. I don't remember my parents having to buy so much stuff for the start of the school year. I think between the two kids it added up to $70 just for the supplies, not including a backpack. Well, I guess it's a small investment in my child's education, right?! Anyway, as you can see, Ryan was thrilled to begin the first day of the new school year. Luckily, he came home and reported that he indeed had a great day of school.

Ah, the first day of school. The kids are so cute and I am glad that they had a good first day. Noah also was convinced that he was going to preschool (with my sister's daughter) so I have started doing preschool with him at home in the afternoons. He actually loves it! I call it preschool and try to act like his teacher so he can feel like a big boy.

To answer your question: No, you aren't old enough to have a fourth grade daughter who is already out of elementary school! (Because if you are that old, so am I!)

What BIG kids!!! They are all so cute. Maddie was just like Olivia... I have to read her books and give her coloring pages all day to keep her happy.

Aimee had a baby girl, Erin Elizabeth and she was 8 lbs. and has TONS of brown hair! Laura also has a new baby girl, Ella, and I think she was 7+ lbs. and is just gorgeous. Such sweet little ones. I have to admit, it made me a little baby hungry. I have been pretty sure I was done, but then... oohhhhh they're just sooo cute!
